It is important to know what to do in the case of a dental emergency while waiting to see our dentist. In all cases, see our dentist as soon as possible. If you have a toothache, rinse your mouth in warm water. Floss to remove any food stuck between the teeth. If there is swelling, use a cold compress. If your tooth gets chipped or broken, save the pieces. Rinse your mouth and the broken pieces. Apply gauze to the area if there is bleeding. Bring the pieces with you to our office. If you lose a tooth, rinse it off and put it back in place in your mouth, if possible. Otherwise, put in a small container of milk. Bring the tooth when you see our dentist. When a filling is lost, stick a piece of sugarless gum into the cavity to protect the tooth until you can see our dentist.
